  • Seesaw update/ Home Learning Support

    Fri 24 Apr 2020

Just a word of thanks from all the Staff for how both you and your children have engaged with Seesaw. It is so reaffirming and reflects the value and importance we collectively put on their education.

As a school community we are also aware of the difficulties that we all face at this time. We understand that you yourselves may also be working from home, there may be limits to the access you have to online learning and there may be other things within your family, which will rightly have priority at this time. We urge you to pace yourselves with us in all of this and not to feel overwhelmed.

The online learning is there to provide a structure, a reassurance and a connection with school life. I urge you not to allow it to become a burden which has the potential to test your patience to the limit and add to the stress we are all under. It is designed to support and encourage us all.

In school when things are difficult we tell the children to stay calm, we reassure and go back to a task with fresh eyes and minds when we are ready to pick things up again. Be reassured that this time will pass and we will go back to a new normal eventually.

Please check in on the school website under Home Learning Support

    https://www.holychildps.com/home-learning-support/

where we have uploaded some useful resources for you to assist with home learning. We will also continue to stay in touch with any updates or information regarding the new school term on the school website, Facebook and Twitter.

With every best wish for the coming weeks.

    Acting Principal

  • Seesaw codes sent to parents

    Mon 13 Apr 2020

Letters were sent to parents/guradians containing

    1.   A Seesaw Home Learning Code. Your child can enter this to join their class. This will allow them to receive and send work to their teacher. Children can access seesaw online or by downloading the Seesaw Class App on a mobile device.

    2.  As a parent you will have your own Seesaw Family Invite Code. This will allow you to see your child’s Seesaw Learning Journal. It will also allow you to message the teacher to communicate about learning. You must download the Seesaw Family App and enter the Family Invite Code to do this.

     Please note:

*** Your child’s work may be shared by the teacher with other children in the class for celebration purposes- as an example of good or outstanding work. If you do not wish your child’s work to be shared in this way please contact me at info@holychild.co.uk

Follow the instructions printed on the sheets to get started. If you have any difficulties logging into Seesaw please contact me at also at the info@holychild.co.uk account.

  • Introduction of Seesaw

    Tue 07 Apr 2020

A further online resource of ‘Seesaw’ will be used from Monday 20th April 2020 to help provide a more structured contact and communication tool for yourselves, your child/ren and their teachers.

The teaching staff have recently received online training using Seesaw. In order for you and your child to access it, a QR Code and a Class Family Code along with a Help Sheet, will be posted to your home over the Easter break. Seesaw will allow for a child centred approach which we hope will be both motivating and encouraging. It is also allowing both the staff and children to develop a skill set which they will be able to use when this time has passed.

Please remember that I am also still available to address any issues or concerns you may have through the  school email info@holychild.belfast.ni.sch.uk
