The Stone Age in Ireland

The Stone Age in Ireland

In this topic we will be learning about life in Ireland for the first people who lived here.  We will explore Mesolithic and Neolithic times.  The children will discover what Ireland was like, how the people made their homes and hunted for food in this time period.  They will be learning about how time changed as people began to create early technologies to help with farming and leading a more settled life.

To begin our topic we were visited by Lisa from the Belfast Hills Partnership.  She was able to give us a burst of knowledge to kick start our topic.  Lisa was able to show us replicas of weapons and tools that would have been used at the time.  Through her visit we have a better understanding of what Ireland looked like almost 2000 years ago and just how tough life would have been back then.
