Primary 6 Weekly Phonics Tasks Book 1

 

Monday – Today I have to sort the words on my list to find out which words contain the same target sounds.

Tuesday – Today I use some of the words from my list to write sentences. My teacher will tell me how many to write.

Wednesday – Today I have to highlight or underline the target sounds in the words I need to learn. I can write the tricky ones out on word building squares.

Thursday – Today I need to decide which spellings are hard for me to remember and find a way to learn them.

  • Write them in a different colour
  • Look at the word, cover, write and check
  • Make a pattern or a word doodle

Monday – Today I have to sort the words on my list to find out which words contain the same target sounds and highlight the sounds.

Tuesday – Today I use some of the words from my list to write sentences. I need to write 7 sentences which contain connectives.

Wednesday – Today I have to use a dictionary to write the definition of 5 of my words (I’ll will look up any words I don’t know the meaning of).

Thursday – Today I will use a thesaurus to look up alternative words that have a similar meaning to my spelling.

 

Group 3 Spellings. You will not be able to complete a word sort with these words so just become familiar with the words and practise them on Monday for your task as they are very difficult.

100 Commonly misspelt words. Learn the first 20 in the first column starting with accommodate and ending with Community.
