On September 13th we participated in the first online Art lesson with Colleen Watters.  It was a very informative and hands-on session and everybody enjoyed working with Colleen.

Music is an important part in the life of the children in Holy Child.

Below is a selection of photographs featuring some of our

Primary 7 children with their teacher, Mrs. Breen.

Our World Around us topic this term is A Breath of Fresh Air

We enjoyed putting our heads together working in teams and coming up

with questions we felt needed answers.

PEACE PROMS 2024

Children from Primary 7B are very excited about participating in the Peace Proms 2024 which is to be held in the SSE Arena in Belfast on 25th February 2024.  We attended a choir workshop on 8th November with other schools that will be singing with us at the event.  The workshop was lead by Greg Beardsell and everybody had a fantastic morning singing their hearts out!

MINDFULNESS

Our class has really enjoyed our four mindfulness sessions with Nicola from Tullymore.  We had fun during every session and learned coping mechanisms when we feel under pressure.  Mindfulness helps us enjoy life more and understand ourselves better.  Nicola taught us that by paying more attention to the present moment – to our own thoughts and feelings, and to the world around us – can improve our mental wellbeing.

Malone Integrated College

Taster Session

5th December 2023

The children spent the morning in Malone Integrated College where they got to experience life in secondary school.  They had lots of fun participating in a P.E., Art and Technology session.  They found the teachers very nice and were glad to be able to catch up with some of Holy Child past pupils.

Here are some pictures of the activities:

Stop-Motion Videography

The children had lots of fun tapping into their creative side during our stop-motion videography session using the iPads today.  We definitely have some budding motion picture directors in the making in P7B!

The Junior Entrepreneur Programme

The Junior Entrepreneur Programme is a real-life, immersive entrepreneurship skills programme for primary school children; it nurtures confidence, resilience, creativity, problem-solving and teamwork and engages pupils of all abilities.  JEP is a substantial, in-depth programme - it has a lasting impact on pupils, teachers and the wider school community; it puts a spotlight on entrepreneurship as a career option and develops invaluable life skills.

Here is a collection of photographs of the children brainstorming ideas, drawing up a business plan and pitching their plan to their peers.

Our student teacher, Ms. Ní Raghallaigh, gave the class a very enjoyable lesson in Irish.  Every child took part and Ms. Ní Raghallaigh told them how impressed she was at how quickly they were able to answer various questions and tell her and their peers about themselves as Gaeilge.  Well done everybody!

WORLD BOOK DAY 2024

Some of the children dressed as their favourite characters from

books they have read.

The Junior Entrepreneur Programme

Today the children interviewed children from Mr. Cunningham's Primary 6B class, asking for their views and opinions about the Recipe Book Primary 7 children are going to compile and sell.  Their enthusiastic participation was very much appreciated by all in Primary 7A and our thanks to Mr. Cunningham.

Irish News Young Readers Media Project 2024

Primary 7 children are delighted to participate again this year in the Irish News Young Readers Media Project.  This involves a weekly School Edition newspaper supplemented with an educational resource booklet to aid the development of literacy skills and critical thinking at Key Stage 2.  The newspaper includes bespoke content curated for the project and a selection of news stories taken from The Irish News each week.  The children have already delved in...  See some pictures below!

Primary 7B Transition Sessions

The children are currently attending Transition sessions in St. Agnes' Youth Club with Youth Worker, Seanín.  They are learning valuable techniques and strategies to cope with new challenges and stresses they may face when they go to their new schools in September.
