Beware of Medusa

10th Jun 2026
P4 pupils are enjoying learning about Greek myths. They found out about Medusa, a pretty young maiden whose vanity led her to an unfortunate end. Medusa thought so highly of herself that she believed she was more beautiful than the goddess Athena and, when visiting the Parthenon, declared that she too deserved a temple in her honour. Angered by her comments, Athena turned her into a hideous Gorgon with snaking hair and banished her to the ends of the earth. She could never gaze upon her own reflection again or she would be turned to stone, as would any suitor who met her eye. What a hard lesson to learn for Medusa. I wonder if she would approve of our masks.
