Our Mission: Rooted in Community, Inspired by Our Children
As part of our School Development Plan for 2025–2026, we set out to reflect on and refresh our school vision. While “Sharing, Caring and Learning” has long been a proud and cherished motto at Holy Child, we wanted to ensure that our vision truly captures who we are today — and what we aim to offer every family who becomes part of our school community.
Our goal was clear: to create a mission that is meaningful, aspirational and easily understood by everyone connected to Holy Child, from our youngest pupils to our staff, parents and parish partners.
Shaped by Pupils, Guided by Community
To do this well, we knew it had to start with our children. We gathered their ideas through focus groups, the Student Council and even a special musical contribution from Primary 7, whose song beautifully expressed what Sharing, Caring and Learning means to them. Every pupil then took part in a school-wide vote to help shape our final vision.
Staff also came together to explore what our motto means in practice — in our classrooms, our routines, our relationships and our hopes for each child’s future. From these conversations, we created a shared statement that reflects both our identity and our aspirations as a school rooted in community and faith.
We hope this renewed mission speaks to your family’s experience of Holy Child and provides a clear sense of the values that guide us as we support your child’s growth.
Two Versions, One Shared Purpose
To make our mission accessible and meaningful for everyone, we developed two complementary versions:
- A formal mission statement, used in our policies, procedures and official documents.
- A child-friendly version, written using the children’s own words and ideas. This version will be displayed throughout the school so pupils can see, understand and live our values every day.
Together, these statements highlight what makes Holy Child special — a school where every child is valued, every voice matters and our community’s shared values guide everything we do.
Mission Statement
Sharing
We share with friends, families and the wider community by showing good manners, respect and kindness.
We share by working in partnership with parents and stakeholders—because it takes a village to raise a child.
Caring
We care for everyone’s emotional, spiritual, social, physical and academic wellbeing.
We care for one another, our families, our parish, our community and our world.
Learning
We learn to be the best we can be, striving for high expectations and high standards for all.
We learn to grow in confidence, independence and a love of lifelong learning.
Child friendly version
Sharing
We share with our friends, our families and our community by being kind.
We work together with the adults who help us—because everyone plays a part in helping children grow.
Caring
We care about how everyone feels and help each other to grow by being polite and respectful.
We look after one another, our families, our parish, our community and our world.
Learning
We always try our best and believe that everyone can achieve great things.
We learn to be confident, independent and excited about discovering new things.

Our motto is Caring, Sharing and Learning,
Holy Child welcomes everyone with open arms.
Our motto is Caring, Sharing and Learning,
We go on lots of trips like W5, Castle Espie and the farm.
Our school is the heart of Andytown,
There is no better place to be found.
Our staff all work very hard,
While pupils love to play in the yard.
We all go to St. Agnes for mass,
We walk together proudly as a class.
We all try to give our best,
With the Holy Child badge upon our chest.
We run out at home time.
If we didn't have school it would be a crime.
Going to Holy Child makes me proud
And I am not afraid to say that out loud.
